Each year in North Carolina as I start to notice the yellow dusting of pollen covering everything, I also get an increase in comments from parents. “She’s acting up.” “His OCD is coming back.” “I thought the anxiety was gone but it’s been tough the past couple of weeks.” This is from families that have made a lot of progress along with newer clients who had initially started to see some shift, but feel they have started going backwards again. It has to do with inflammation. Some will say that they’re not having the usual sinus symptoms. However, that doesn’t mean that their bodies aren’t being affected. The body may be strong enough to manage the inflammation without the outward physical symptoms being seen. Seasonal allergies are taxing on the body and the person may not have the reserves to manage their emotions.

This is true of inflammation of any sort. Whether it is from the air, an animal or a food, inflammation stresses the nervous system.

When the body/brain becomes inflamed, the strength of the nervous system will have more resiliency against the affects of inflammation. However, doing anything we can to help lower inflammation is always an important part of health. Besides taking out any potential food triggers, in times of high pollen, consider a nasal wash. Use anti-inflammatory spices in your cooking such as turmeric, ginger or cinnamon. Supplements such as Fish Oil, Vitamin C, Bromelain and Quercetin are just a few to consider.

So, if you’re seeing a little regression as things begin to bloom, or any time some new food or environment comes into play, be aware of the effects of inflammation.

MNRI® Intensives

The Masgutova Institute is offering Family Conferences throughout the year. These are a 4-8 day intensive during which a person has an evaluation by Dr. Masgutova; receives 6 hours a day of therapy; and for the parents of children attending, training. I will be working at the Orlando, FL conference from July 10-14, 2017.

For those unable to attend those conferences, I will be offering 3 hour intensives along with my assistant. We will be working with two people at a time. This can be a child and parent if you would like to be worked on during the same time as your child. Or for just children, I would match up with someone of similar age for that time. During the 3 hours each person will be rotating between myself and my assistant along with having movement and of course, snack/bathroom breaks. I will have a plan of exactly what will be worked on during those times.

As you continually hear from me, consistency is the most important part of this work. The neural pathways need repetition to build. These intensive treatments accelerate this process. I will have a handful of these intensives available this summer. If you are interested, send me a note right away as these intensives will be scheduled before the general summer schedule is opened.
